Building Blitz with the United Way and Habitat for Humanity

The United Way of Northwest Michigan Volunteer Center’s “Day of Caring” is teaming with Habitat For Humanity of the Grand Traverse Region to build a house in 5 days. The building blitz runs August 20-23….to help, e-mail susan@unitedwaynmi.org.

 

Make sure every student has what they need for Back to School
The Char-Em United Way is asking for your help to “Stuff the Bus” !!! This Saturday from 10am to 3pm, school buses will be parked at Wal-Mart and K-Mart in Petoskey. Shoppers are asked to donate school supplies to students in need throughout the Charlevoix-Emmet school district. A Great Meal for a Good Cause
The Grawn United Methodist Church is hosting their 22nd annual Pig Roast and Silent Auction this Saturday, from 11am to 3pm. Proceeds will help benefit Everett Fournier, a 25-yr resident of Grawn who is battling Emphysema and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
Art in Alden

The Alden Depot Arts Festival will take place Saturday, Aug. 23 at Depot Museum Park in Alden on the shores of Torch Lake. The 6th annual juried show features more than 80 artists whose media include painting, sculpture, ceramics, metal craft, pottery, weaving, jewelry, clothing and furniture. The event is open 10 - 6. Admission is free.
